The PMI (Project Management Institute) has a great set of certifications. Firstly, the most internationally recognized project management certification is the Project Management Professional (PMP) issued by PMI. Additionally, the Project Management Institute issues several other certifications.
PMI Certifications – Project Management Professional (PMP) ®
With over 790,000 credential holders, PMP is, moreover, the most internationally recognized project management certification and PMI certification. The number of jobs ads that require candidates to have this certification is higher than any other credential.
This certification is ideal for project managers that, above all, already have some experience and want to certify their knowledge and skills.
Finally, PMP requirements are 35 contact hours of project management education and 60 months of project management experience if you have a high-school degree (or equivalent), or 36 months of project management experience if you have a four-year degree.

Project Management Courses
PMI Certifications – Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) ®
Firstly, this is the first step in the PMI certification scheme. That is to say, this certification is ideal for everyone interested in project management, with little or no project management experience.
CAPM requirements are a high-school diploma (or equivalent) and 23 hours of project management education.
Therefore, CAPM will provide a solid base to start and will distinguish you from others within the project management world.
We suggest that you enroll in a project management course even if you meet the experience requirements. A course will develop your knowledge and skills while preparing you for the exam.

PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP)®
This certification is the PMI certification above all, dedicated to the risk management area. This is one of the most important disciplines in project management. Therefore, PMI-RMP confirms your ability to identify and evaluate project risks, reduce threats and enhance opportunities, and add value to the organization.
Finally, PMI-RMP requirements are 36 months of project risk management experience and 40 contact hours of project risk management education if you have a high-school degree (or equivalent) or 24 months of project risk management experience, and 30 contact hours of project risk management education if you have a four-year degree. Project risk management experience must have been within the last 5 years.
It is mandatory to have project risk management education.

PMI Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA)®
This certification is the PMI certification certainly dedicated to the Business analysis discipline. Above all, it recognizes that you have the knowledge and skills to work with stakeholders to define requirements, shape project outputs, and drive intended business outcomes.
Finally, PMI-PBA requirements are 60 months of business analysis experience and 35 contact hours of business analysis education if you have a high-school degree (or equivalent) or 36 months of business analysis experience and 35 contact hours of business analysis education if you have a four-year degree.

PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)®
This certification is above all dedicated to Agile methodologies. Therefore, it recognizes your knowledge in agile principles and your skill with agile techniques.
Finally, PMI-ACP requirements are 12 months of project experience within the last 5 years (PMP and PgMP credential holders will not need to fulfill this requirement), 8 months of agile project experience within the last 3 years, and 21 contact hours of agile practices education.

PMI Certifications – Program Management Professional (PgMP)®
This certification is above all, dedicated to program management. Therefore, it recognizes that you have the knowledge and skills to manage multiple, related projects in a coordinated way, reaching benefits that would not occur if the projects were managed separately.
Finally, PgMP requirements are:
- If you have a high-school degree or equivalent
- 48 months of project management experience or the PMP certification
- 84 months of program management experience within the last 15 years
- If you have a four-year degree
- 48 months of project management experience or the PMP certification
- 48 months of program management experience within the last 15 years.
